Dr. Jennifer Harrison Speaker Bio for the Calgary Centennial Rotary Club for November 30, 2016

Dr. Harrison is a bestselling author, educator, speaker and bodymind health expert. In 2015, she published her first book Stressed Self to Best Self™: A Body Mind Spirit Guide to Creating a Happier and Healthier You. Also in 2015, Jennifer wrote an Editor’s Choice Award winning chapter for Chicken Soup for the Soul co-creator and NY Times bestselling author Jack Canfield’s book The Soul of Success Volume One: The World’s Leading Entrepreneurs and Professionals Reveal Their Core Strategies for Getting to the Heart of Health, Wealth and Success. In 2013 she created her website where she posts monthly articles and videos to help people who are overwhelmed by stress. Jennifer also teaches courses to health care and business professionals, as well as lay people, mostly in Alberta but she has taught across Canada.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and zoology, is a Certified Athletic Therapist, Chiropractor and incorporates a myriad of techniques into her practice. For more than 30 years she has been studying the interconnectedness of the body and mind. Jennifer’s particular interest has been in the impact stress has on all of us. She has also focused on discovering techniques that help to both effectively manage and process stress. She works at a wonderful interdisciplinary clinic called Active Back to Health Centre in the Chinook Mall.

Jennifer’s connection with the Rotary Club dates back to grade 11 when she was selected to represent her school in Ottawa at the Rotary Adventures in Citizenship week-long program. Then in grade 12, she and a classmate were chosen to represent Czechoslovakia at the Rotary Model United Nations Assembly in Winnipeg. Her brother in a Rotarian in their home town of Minnedosa, MB. Jennifer has enjoyed being able to meet some of the Rotary foreign exchange students her brother and sister-in-law have hosted over the years plus her niece did a year-long Rotary exchange in Brazil. More recently, she was a guest of Dave Brinsmead at the October 5th meeting.
