INTRODUCE THE SPEAKER – Al Muller

GUEST SPEAKER –.Kelly Rowe from Hope Mission started in Edmonton in 1929. There are 5 locations in Red Deer, Drayton Valley, Wetaskiwin/Camrose, Edmonton and Calgary.
Hope Mission is a faith-based community support to uplift and serve vulnerable youth by creating safe hubs for youth to feel safe and supported. It is designed to support all faiths.
Kelly has been involved for 12 years initially in Red Deer, then starting operations in Calgary in 2013.

The Hub is 10,000 sq/ft located in Forrest Lawn. The centre serves 5,000 meals per month. They filled a gap of providing meals during COVID when school programs shut down. They were able to create food hampers for 400 families.
Typically, they are able to serve 700 lunches per week, and hot dinners after school for 100+ per week. At Easter, they served over 100 individuals. Kelly attributes the success on the volunteers that make all of the support happen.

The focus is on kids and youth to provide safety and positive influence to protect the youth from predators. Programs include cooking classes, music, life experiences, and trades; including wood working.

Summer camp and Camp Hope just west of Calgary serves 570+ kids each year. The program is expanding, and Camp Hope is expanding and hiring its first hired manager. The expansion includes the opportunity to host corporate events and retreats to add revenue.
