We are saddened to announce the passing of Jerry van der Linden, beloved husband of 66 years to Margaret, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 88 years.
Besides his loving wife, Jerry is also survived by his brother Rick, his son Cameron (Michelle), his daughter Carrie (Ray), his daughter Tina, and grandchildren, Sydney, Teagan, Breanne, Joshua, Cole, and Aija. Jerry was born in Edmonton, AB, and attended the University of Alberta, graduating with a degree in civil engineering in 1959, the same year he and Margaret married.
Over his working life, Jerry held positions with Northwestern Utilities, Canadian Western Natural Gas, Dome Petroleum, and Petro-Canada. He eventually used his significant and varied experience to consult.
Community service was very important to Jerry. Over the years, he was actively involved in Kinsmen, K-40, Rotary, and was a dedicated volunteer at Heritage Park. He also served as Commanding Officer of the Sea Cadets with R.C.S.C.C. MicMac as a follow-up to his time in the Naval Reserve as a Constructor Sub-Lieutenant.
Jerry was the definition of integrity and a role model to many. To the end, he had a great sense of humour and a boyish grin that rarely disappeared. He was deeply loved and will be missed immensely.
We are grateful for the care and support Jerry received at United Active Living Fish Creek and AgeCare McKenzie Towne.
A private service will be held by the family.
